  1. I’ve been trying to learn how to throw a back up ball 2H since I switched over a year ago. The best I’ve been able to do is get the ball the roll straight, but not actually back up. Good news is that I can can make my 7 pin (lefty) 90%+ of the time now with plastic.
I still think you could work on your wrist position throughout the swing. Your wrist is so firm, and in a traditionally 1H position, causing you to push the ball out more than rolling it off your hand. This is also likely a part of the reason you get the ball into the lane too early. Roll the ball up into the wrist… a bit more bend in the wrist, a bit less bend in the elbow. Just my 2 cents as a non-coach.

  2. I don’t use grips in the ball. I find it more comfortable from the standpoint of being able to adjust the feel with just tape. I tape my fingers as well. Also I throw no thumb (1 handed though) and my pitches are somewhat… Odd but I get the ball to roll really well. (pitches are 1/2 left 1/2 rev, 3/8 right 3/4 rev). Also I have the new trouble maker and I absolutely love that ball. I posted it to the bowling science page (if you are on it on facebook)

  3. I’m considering the switch to two handed as I have elbow issues and these videos are very informative and thought provoking. I have a couple of two drill balls that I’m going to start with to see if it is something I will pursue further. Thanks for the videos and your insight.
