could someone explain what he meant by the colors impacting the ball? I remember seeing/hearing that from some other video but I forgot what video explained it. certain colors react sharper/smoother than others?
Color does matter, but it’s not necessarily sharper/smoother, that is just the effect of total hook. The reason, as Storm has described I believe?, is that certain colors require powder dyes, and other colors can be created with liquid dyes, depending on their natural brightness and contrast. Powder dyes have been proven to result in a stronger coverstock formula than liquid dyes, due to the way it alters the mixture. I think it was a Belmo video, where they took a core he chose, and put it in 3 different coverstock formulas, once he picked the base formula that gave the desired motion, they re-created that combo in a few different colors and re-tested, to find these results. Radical has also confirmed the same theory with colors altering things slightly. And I believe Hammer recently admitted the same thing, as they used the Purple Hammer Urethane coverstock, in a different color, to create a different amount of hook.
